Warlock - SNES, 22/3/95

We bet that the Warlock film licence has been sitting around in Acclaim's tunnel for ages - probably since the film came out 57 years ago.

As in the film, the Devil's son has come to earth, and it's one of those cliched races against time to steal six magic runes before he does.

Oddly enough, the action is platform-based, which we don't think has been used for a film licence before.

For the best part, Warlock is pretty dull. Everything in it - from the collectable spells, to the boss-level-boss layout - has been seen before.

The control is decidedly stiff, and the graphics, though large and nice enough, won't burn the house down. As it were.

It's certainly not the worst SNES platformer we've ever reviewed, but it isn't a game we would ever recommend you consider buying.

A load of old warlocks joke.
