SCENE 1: ROYAL BIRTHING WELL
(The Queen is giving birth to her baby. Her husband, King, watches from a specially erected gantry high above the doctors and the mess.)
QUEEN: I see it! I see the baby's head.
DOCTOR WHO: That is my fist!
QUEEN: But I can see the baby's face.
DOCTOR WHO: That is my face!
QUEEN: What the...? How can this be, my beautiful infant daughter is growing before my eyes!
DOCTOR WHO: I have installed powerful infra-red lamps behind my face. Their rays are causing your child to age before her time.
QUEEN: In that case I shall call her Sleeping Fruity. Happy birthday, Fruity. You are now sixteen years old!
FRUITY: Happy birthday to everyone.
FRUITY: What are those amazing winged balls that I see flying through the air?
QUEEN: Those are the Fairy Gods. They have assumed the form of balls - even footballs - to persuade you to trust them.
FRUITY: Trust them I do, but why are they here? Will they attack me?
QUEEN: I doubt it. I imagine they are here to bestow upon you a gift of big loveliness: a moustache.
(As the beautiful moustache begins to grow on Fruity's face, an evil hag enters and puts a curse on Fruity.)
HAG: I am hag. I hate your moustache. I hate all of you! Ha ha ha ha! I curse you so that you fall asleep: fall down, go bang!
FRUITY: That sounds most excellent!
HAG: It is for me. While you are asleep I shall steal your moustache and put it in my bed. But wait: you will only awaken via a kiss from a lovely man.
(Fruity, and almost everyone else, falls asleep. Eventually, after two whole hours, a handsome man discovers the castle.)
HANDSOME: What's this - a castle full of sleepers? I must take advantage of this uncommon situation and kiss one of them on the throat and wrists.
(He kisses the sleeping Fruity. She awakens, sees the handsome man and is happy. Together they sing a song and do a little dance.)
